The event marks the continuation of the United States’ most prestigious individual high school cross country tradition, effectively succeeding the long-running Foot Locker Cross Country Championships while retaining the same historic venue and four-region qualification system. Athletes earn their place at nationals through highly competitive Northeast, South, Midwest, and West regional championships, held in late November and early December, with automatic qualifiers and a limited number of at-large “Golden Ticket” entries ensuring an elite, selective field.
