Burnie, Tasmania – On Sunday, 26 October 2025, the Strait Link Burnie 10 will host the national 10km road-running title as the official Australian Athletics 10km Road Running Championships. Entering its 41st edition, the Burnie 10 brings elite and community athletes to one of Australia’s fastest coastal courses.
The entire event will be streamed live for free worldwide on YouTube, with the live coverage beginning at 9:40 AM local time (10:40 PM October 25 GMT).
The out-and-back route along the Bass Highway is flat, AIMS-certified and primed for fast finishes. With equal prize money for men and women, a substantial bonus of AUD 3,000 for a course-record, and a handsome local bonus for the first Tasmanian finisher, the competition promises intensity at the front.
Returning to headline the field is Olympian and national-record-holder Stewart McSweyn, who set a blistering 10km time of 27:58 in Launceston earlier this year and is looking to make his mark on this national title. As the race doubles as the Australian championship, the depth of domestic competition is expected to match the stature.
