The Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational celebrates its 46th edition on Friday, October 3, 2025, bringing national cross country powerhouses to Chicago’s Sydney R. Marovitz Golf Course. Hosted by Loyola University Chicago, the meet honors former Rambler athlete Sean Earl, who passed away from cancer in 2000, and continues to be one of the most prestigious collegiate cross country events in the Midwest.
In response to warm weather forecasts, Loyola updated the race times to prioritize athlete safety. The final schedule is as follows (all times CT):
This year’s invitational will feature an exceptionally deep field, with programs from across the country converging on the Chicago lakefront:
Women’s Championship (6K): The field includes multiple nationally ranked teams, headlined by NC State (No. 2 nationally), along with Providence, Washington, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Minnesota, and Boston College.
Men’s Championship (8K): The competition features Wisconsin (No. 7), North Carolina (No. 16), and Washington (No. 24), alongside strong squads from Indiana, Louisville, Gonzaga, and Loyola.
With multiple NCAA top-25 programs on both sides, the Lakefront Invite is expected to be a critical checkpoint in the fall season, previewing potential regional and national championship battles.
