The scenic town of Larne, Northern Ireland, will once again welcome thousands of athletes on Sunday, 24 August 2025, for the Antrim Coast Half Marathon, a World Athletics Elite Label race that has quickly become one of the fastest and most prestigious road events in the world.
The event will be streamed live for free worldwide on YouTube. The live coverage is scheduled to begin at 8:45 British Standard Time (GMT +1).
The 2025 edition promises to be the most competitive in the event’s history, with a stellar lineup of distance running stars. Kenya’s Geoffrey Kamworor, a multiple world champion on the roads and cross country, will spearhead the men’s field alongside compatriot Vincent Mutai. Ethiopia’s Mizan Alem, one of the world’s top half marathoners, headlines the women’s race, joined by Kenyan Olympic finalist Lilian Kasait.
Starting at Sandy Bay Playing Fields and following a fast, mostly flat out-and-back course along the iconic Antrim Coast Road, the race is renowned for producing blistering times. Runners will pass Ballygally before heading back to finish by the Chaine Memorial Tower, with the Irish Sea providing a dramatic backdrop.
The event has already witnessed history: Daniel Mateiko set the UK and Ireland all-comers’ record of 58:36 here in 2023, while Yalemzerf Yehualaw clocked 1:04:22 in 2022 (her 1:03:44 course run in 2021 was not ratified). With the 2025 field stacked with global medalists, more record-breaking performances are in sight.
