The 2025 edition of the International Pegaso Meeting – “Città di Firenze” will take place on Wednesday, July 23, at the Stadio Luigi Ridolfi in Florence, promising a thrilling evening of elite athletics action. As part of the World Athletics Continental Tour – Challenger level, the event brings top-tier international athletes and Italian stars to the Tuscan capital for a fast-paced and competitive program.
This year’s meeting features a dynamic lineup of events, including the men’s 100m, triple jump, and shot put, alongside the women’s 800m and triple jump. A Paralympic 100m FISPES race for women also adds an inclusive highlight to the program, reflecting the meeting's growing diversity.
Headlining the men’s shot put is Leonardo Fabbri, the Italian record holder with a massive 22.98m throw earlier this season in Brussels. He’ll go head-to-head with fellow Italian Zane Weir, Romania’s Andrei Toader, and South Africa’s Kyle Blignaut in what is expected to be one of the night’s most exciting duels.
Sprinter Samuele Ceccarelli, a Tuscan fan favorite with a personal best of 10.13s, leads a strong men’s 100m field featuring competitors from Cuba, Ghana, Cameroon, and the Ivory Coast. The women’s 800m promises to be another key event, pitting Italian star Gaia Sabbatini against the experienced Noélie Yarigo of Benin, as well as emerging talent from Australia, Kenya, South Africa, and Norway.
