The 2025 Edinburgh Marathon Festival (EMF) took place over the weekend of May 24–25, 2025, in Edinburgh, Scotland. This annual event is one of the UK's largest running festivals, featuring a variety of races for participants of all ages and abilities.

Saturday, May 24, 2025:

• EMF 10K – 9:00 AM
• EMF 5K – 11:00 AM
• EMF Junior 5K (ages 11–18) – 12:00 PM
• EMF Junior 2K – 1:00 PM

Sunday, May 25, 2025:

• Half Marathon – 8:00 AM

Marathon Route Highlights

The marathon course is renowned for being flat and fast, making it ideal for first-timers and those aiming for personal bests. It starts at Potterrow, near the University of Edinburgh’s McEwan Hall, and passes several iconic landmarks:

• Greyfriars Kirkyard, home to the statue of Greyfriars Bobby
• The Royal Mile, with views of St Giles’ Cathedral and Edinburgh Castle
• Princes Street Gardens and the Scott Monument
• The route then continues along the scenic East Lothian coastline, passing through areas like Portobello and Musselburgh, before finishing at the Pinkie Playing Fields in Musselburgh.
