Stockholm Marathon Course Map

The course for the Stockholm Marathon offers runners a scenic tour through the heart of the Swedish capital, combining historic streets, waterfront views, and iconic landmarks across Stockholm’s islands and districts. The race begins on Lidingövägen near the historic Stockholm Olympic Stadium and finishes dramatically inside the stadium after 42.195 kilometers of running.
The route takes athletes through many of Stockholm’s most famous neighborhoods and landmarks, including the medieval streets of Gamla Stan, the green parklands of Djurgården, the elegant boulevard of Strandvägen, and the busy Södermalm district. One of the most challenging and iconic sections comes at the crossing of the long Västerbron bridge, where runners are rewarded with sweeping panoramic views over the city.
The 2026 course has been slightly adjusted to make it somewhat flatter while preserving the traditional character of the race. The layout combines fast open roads with technical urban sections, creating a balance between speed and sightseeing. Crowds typically line much of the route, especially near the city center and the final kilometers approaching the Olympic Stadium.
With cool Scandinavian spring temperatures, multiple waterfront stretches, and a spectacular stadium finish, the Stockholm Marathon is widely regarded as one of Europe’s most beautiful marathon courses.
