Course Mao - São Silvestre de Lisboa

The São Silvestre de Lisboa urban 10km course is set entirely in the heart of the Portuguese capital, run at night on fully closed roads. Both the start and finish are located on Avenida da Liberdade, Lisbon’s iconic, wide boulevard, offering excellent conditions for quick starts and strong finishes.

From Avenida da Liberdade, the route heads through central Lisbon streets, featuring long straight sections mixed with gentle rolling terrain. The course includes gradual ascents and descents, typical of Lisbon, rather than sharp climbs, rewarding runners who manage rhythm and pacing well.

The final kilometers return toward Avenida da Liberdade, where the last 1,000 meters open up into a broad, illuminated finishing stretch, ideal for late attacks and sprint finishes. This section also hosts the popular “Champions of the Last Kilometer” challenge.

Overall, the course is considered moderately fast, spectator-friendly, and well suited to both elite racing and mass participation, combining performance potential with one of Europe’s most atmospheric end-of-year city runs.
