Course Description – Valencia Marathon

The Valencia Marathon Trinidad Alfonso Zurich features one of the world’s fastest and most iconic marathon courses. The 42.195 km route begins at Plaça de la Marató, near the futuristic Museu de les Ciències in the City of Arts and Sciences, and winds through Valencia’s historic centre, seaside districts, and long, flat boulevards before returning to the striking blue runway finish.

After the start, runners head north toward the historic old town, passing landmarks such as the Torres de Serranos, Mercado de Colón, and the lush Turia Gardens, a 9-km greenbelt that traces the former Turia riverbed. The course then opens into Valencia’s wide avenues, offering long, steady straights ideal for maintaining even splits.

Mid-race, the route moves east toward the coastline and maritime neighbourhoods, providing a mix of urban and coastal scenery with enthusiastic crowd support. The return section is equally flat, guiding athletes back toward the architectural complex that defines the race’s identity.

The final kilometres are among the most memorable in global road running: a fast approach to the City of Arts and Sciences, culminating in the spectacular finish on the floating blue runway over water—a dramatic stage built specifically for the event.

With minimal elevation, exceptionally smooth road surfaces, and numerous cheering zones, Valencia’s marathon course is engineered for personal bests, national records, and world-class performances, combining speed, beauty, and atmosphere in perfect balance.
