• Kenya's 800m Runner Alfred Kipketer Suspended for Whereabouts Failures

Kenyan 800m runner Alfred Kipketer, the 2016 Olympics finalist, has been provisionally suspended for failing to make himself available for doping tests.

Kipketer holds a personal best in the 800m at 1:42.87 from the 2017 season. He won World youth and world junior 800m titles in 2013 and 2014.

The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) said Wednesday that Kipketer has been charged with “whereabouts” failures and could receive a 2-year-suspension from athletics.

Last week former marathon world-record holder Wilson Kipsang was suspended because of a whereabouts violation and possible tampering with anti-doping work.

Kenya currently has the most number of athletes banned from sports for anti-doping rule violations. Most of the athletes suspended are long and mid-distance runners.
