• Jordan Hasay Drops Out of 2019 Chicago Marathon

Jordan Hasay, whose previous three marathons ended with the same result—third place—did not finish today’s Chicago Marathon.

She recorded a 5K split of 22:20—which projects to 3:08 marathon pace and was 5 minutes behind top Americans Stephanie Bruce and Emma Bates. She did not have a 10K split.

Her father, Joe Hasay, said in a text message to Runner’s World that she suffered a hamstring injury at mile two and had to drop out.

Hasay had said before the race that if conditions cooperated, she would attempt to break Deena Kastor’s American record of 2:19:36, which dates to 2006.
