• Cheptegei will Attempt 5000m World Record in Monaco

Uganda's Joshua Cheptegei, who won World Cross-country title, the 5000m Diamond League trophy, 10000m world gold, and set 10km World record in 2019 will attempt the 5000m World record in Monaco.

The 23-year-old will attempt to break the record at the third stage of the Wanda Diamond League series at Monaco’s home Stade Louis II on August 14.

The 5000-meter world record of 12:37.35 held by Kenenisa Bekele has stood since 2004, is the longest-lasting 5,000-meter world record in track and field history.
