Luvo Manyonga flies 8.62m to Break South African Record Long Jump Record

Olympic silver medalist Luvo Manyonga producing the longest jump in the world since 2009 highlighted the Gauteng North provincial track and field championships.

Manyongonga, who only appeared to the world stage last year, leaped a massive 8.62m to set a new South African record and to break the 8-year-old Khotso Mokoena’s continental record of 8.50m in Pretoria on Friday, March 17.

The 25-year-old Manyonga is now tied for 12th place in the all-time world rankings.
