Ethiopian track star Genzebe Diababa will headline the 52nd edition of the European Athletics meeting Palio Della Quercia in Rovereto, Italy.

Dibaba, who last year clocked a sensational world record in the 1500m of 3:50.09, will attempt the world mile record in Rovereto on Tuesday, September 9.

Russia's Svetlana Masterkova holds the women's mile record outdoors of 4:12.56. In February Diababa set a women's mile indoor record of 4:13.31 in Stockholm.

Dibaba's women's 1500m world record is equivalent to 4:07 for the mile. To break the record she needs to be in a shape of at least of 3:56 to break the record.  She has run 3:59.47 for the 1500m this year, that is more than 9 seconds slower than her personal best.
