• Powell to lead strong 100m field in Zagreb WCH

Former 100m world record holder and Rio Olympics 4x100m champion Asafa Powell of Jamaica will lead a star studded men's 100m field at the World Challenge meet in Zagreb on Tuesday, September 6. 

The 33-year-old Jamaica's latest accomplishment  was earlier  this week at the Diamond League meet in Zurich when he won the 100m with a time of 9.96 and the Diamond League trophy. 

Powell won the Zagreb meeting last  year with a time of 9.96 seconds. On Tuesday in Zagreb Powell will face a very stiff top competition from 6 athletes that have posted sub 10 second 100m this year.  

The meet record of 9.85 seconds belongs to track and field legend Usain Bolt.

• Caster Semenya: South African runner's appeal against IAAF rule begins

Olympic 800m champion Caster Semenya's appeal against a regulation restricting testosterone levels in female runners began on Monday - as the head of world athletics again defended the rule. South African Semenya, 28, is seeking to overturn the regulation at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas). The case will be heard until Friday, with a verdict expected by 29 March.

• COURSE RECORDS FALL AT SEVILLE AND HONG KONG MARATHONS

Ethiopians Ayana Tsedat and Guteni Shone grabbed convincing victories at the 35th Zurich Maratón de Sevilla. 22-year-old Tsedat clocked 2:06:36 to improve the race record by 1:07. Likewise Shone’s winning time of 2:24:29 broke the course record by a similar difference, 1:06. Volha Mazuronak of Belarus  (2:26:13) and Kenyan Barnabas Kiptum (2:09:20) broke course records at the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon.
