Kipchoge wins London Marathon 2016

Kenya's Eliud Kipchoge took the 2016 London Marathon title in second fastest marathon time in history.

Kipchoge successfully defended his London marathon title clocking  2:03:04 the second fastest time in history on Sunday, Apr. 24. The 31-year-old Kenyan beat into second his countryman Stanley Biwott 2:03:51 and legendary Kenenisa Bekele into third 2:06:36. World marathon record holder 2:02:57 man, Dennis Kimetto, finished only in 11th place.

The 2-time London marathon winner Wilson Kipsang fell down at 10km hydration and hurt his right knee but still managed to finish the race in 7th in 2:07:52. " It was a good race and i felt okay. I fell down at 10k and the leg was getting painfull after 25k," Kipsang later Tweeted.

Meanwhile women's race winner Jemima Sumgong won the race in 2:22:58 after recovering from a bad fall involving three other runners just 8 km from the finish. Last year's winner Tigist Tufa of Ethiopia came in second in 2:23:03, while Florence Kiplagat concluded the women's podium in 2:23:39.
