USA's Tiffany Townsend clocked wind aided (+3.7m/s) 22.38 narrowly defeating Jamaican sprint legend Veronica Campbell-Brown 22.46 in the women's 200m.
Former Olympic and world champion in 400m LaShawn Merritt took the win in the men's 200m clocking 20.23 seconds and beating Brazilian sprinter Aldemir Junior into second 20.47. Overall Canada's Gavin Smellie, who ran in heat #3, posted the second fastest time of 20.43 in the men's 200m.
University of Florida hurdler Claudia Francis clocked her lifetime best 56.43 to win the 400m hurdles.
Mike Berry produced the fastest time in the men's 400m of 45.51.
The Florida Relays continues today and will last until Saturday April 2.
