Lavillenie clears huge 6.02m

Pole vault world record holder Renaud Lavillenie moved to #1 spot in the world this season as he cleared 6.02m at the All Star Pole Vault meet in Clermont Ferrand, France on Sunday Feb. 21.

Lavillenie had a almost perfect night as he cleared 5.70m, 5.84m and 6.02m on first attempt. The London Olympic champion Lavillenie then attempted a new world record of 6.17m, but missed the height on all three attempts. 

Canada's world champion,Shawn Barber, who won pole vault contest yesterday at the Glasgow Indoor Grand Prix took second with a mark of 5.91m, while Greece's Konstadinos Filippidis concluded the podium with a mark of 5.84m.

The women's international contest winner was former world champion Fabiana Murer from Brazil who cleared of 4.71m on her second attempt. Greece pole vaulter Nikoleta Kiriakopulou also cleared 4.71m, but ended up second as she took three attempts to clear the height. Third place took Swiss vaulter Nicole Buchler with a mark of 4.62m.
