World champ Barber opens season with 5.88m

World pole vault champion Shawn Barber of Canada opened his 2016 season with a massive leap of 5.88m on Saturday, January 2.

The 21-year-old Barber in his first indoor indoor  meeting this year in Kileen,Texas managed to clear 5.88m for the win.

Interestingly,  during the same meeting last year on January 2, Barber cleared 5.87m and eight months later in Beijing he won the world championships title.
