Kenya’s Kipruto and Ethiopia’s Edesa take the 2016 Xiamen International Marathon
Kenya’s Vincent Kipruto and Ethiopia’s Worknesh Edesa were crowned champions at the 2016 Xiamen International Marathon, an IAAF Gold Label Road Race, on Saturday , January 2.

The 2011 world championships silver medalist Kipruto won the Xiamen international marathon with a time of 2:10:18.
Ethiopian youngster 19-year-old Shura Kitata, who finished second with a PB of 2:08:53 at Shanghai Marathon in November took second place second in 2:10:20. The podium concluded another Ethiopian Feyisa Bekele who crossed the line with a time of 2:11:09.
In the women's race Ethiopians swept the podium as the 23-year-old Worknesh Edesa shave off more than seven minutes off her personal best to win the women’s title in 2:24:04. Also, running a new personal best, Marta Lema (ETH) finished second with a time of 2:24:32, while Fantu Eticha came in third in 2:26:53.
