Dibaba Aims Road 5k Record at Carlsbad 5000

World's one of the greatest distance runners of all time, Genzebe Dibaba, of Ethiopia will try to break world road 5km record at World's one of the most famous road race 'Carlsbad 5000 on Sunday, March 29.


World  5km road race record belongs to Meseret Defar who ran 14:46 back in 2006.

“I know the world record is tough, but I want to come and break it,” said Dibaba ahead of her 5km road race debut.

On February at XL Galan  in meet  in Stockholm, Dibaba broke Defar's  world indoor 5000m record by cloking 14:18:86. Last year the Ethiopian super star, Dibaba, set world indoor records in 1500m 3:55.17, in 3000m 8:16.60 and the world indoor best for two miles 9:00.48.

Top American stars such as Bernard Lagat and Dina Kastor plus several international stars will also line up to run the Carlsbad 5000.
