Barshim to Start DL Season in Shanghai

World's top high jumper Mutaz Essa Barshim will start Diamond League season in Shanghai on May 17.

The Asian high jump record holder last year won the Diamond Race Throphy and $40,000 prize. In the final stage of 2015 Diamond League series in Brussels, Barshim set all time best mark of 2.43m. World record holder Javier Sotomayor holds the world record 2.45m

“I am looking forward to come to Shanghai. I want to give the people of China a perspective of the high jump. Imagine me jumping over basketball player Yao Ming. He is 2.29m tall that means I can jump over him by 14 cm. So please, come and support the movement out there!” Barshim said.

This indoor season Barshim set a massive indoor personal best and Asian indoor record of 2.41m.
