Ethiopians Dominate Blackmores Sydney Marathon

Ethiopians Gebo Gameda and Beruktait Degefa took the Blackmores Sydney Marathon men´s and women´s titles on Sunday, September 21.

Ethiopia´s Gameda won the men´s race in a new course record time of 2:11:18 with compatriot Seboka Dibaba Tola in second with a time of  2:11:48. Kenya’s Benjamin Kolum Kiptoo concluded the podium clocking 2:12:08.

The women´s race winner  Beruktait Degefa of Ethiopia crossed the finish line in 2:29:42 to successfully defended her Sydney´s marathon title and to improve her own course record from last year.

More than 34,000 people participated in the 14th Blackmores Sydney Running Festival today.
