Ndiku Takes Takes 5000m Gold in Glasgow

Caleb Ndiku, the world indoor 3000m champion, in front of 40000 spectators won the men´s 5000m final at the Glasgow Commonwealth games on Sunday evening.

The leading pack consisting consisting of around 15 runners was together until two laps to go when Kenyan trio, Ndiku, Koech, 17 year old Kitur and new Zealand´s Zane Robertson started pulling away.

At the bell lap all four runners were still close together, but the 21-year-old Ndiku made a final surge 300m to go to which no one was able to respond respond. Caleb Ndiku crossed the line in 13:12.07 with teammate Isiah Coech trailing in second in 13:14.06. The big surprise came from New Zealand´s Zane Robertson, who managed to hold off  Kenya´s Kittur for bronze.
