Tonight in Monaco In the men's 1500m the 2008 Olympic champion , Asbel Kiprop, will attempt to break Hicham El Guerrouj's 16-year-old world record of 3:26.00.
"This is something I have planned since last year. That's why I have decided to forgo all other competitions and I am now focusing on building my strength and technique for Monaco," the 2013 Moscow world champion told AFP.
Last year in Monaco the 24 year old Kiprop set a lifetime best and history's 4th fastest time of 3:27.72. Kiprop leads this year's 800m and 1500m world rankings with 1:43.34 and 3:29.18 respectively.
