Asafa Powell Escapes 18 month Ban and Gets Ready to Return

The 31 year old former world 100m record holder, Asafa Powell, could return to the track earlier than expected as his 18 month doping ban have been reduced to 11 month  According TrackAlerts.com.

Powell received 18 month ban after he failed a drug test for a stimulant  oxilofrone at Jamaica's national trials last year in June. It is understood that the The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and IAAF have agreed to lover the ban from 18 months to 11 meaning that he would be eligible to compete already from June.

 Asafa Powell was entered in the 100m at the American Track League meeting on Friday, June 6, but he had to withdraw from the event since the Jamaican Track and Field federation did not  received the official IAAF statement on time.
