Kipsang and Kiplagat Prevail in London
The World marathon record holder Wilson Kipsang (KEN) and the double world marathon champion Edna Kiplagat (KEN) won the Virgin Money London Marathon on Sunday, April 13.
The 32-year-old Kipsang won his second London marathon title smashing the course record by clocking 2:04.24 and defeating his compatriot Stanley Biwot (2:04:55). The third place took last year's London marathon winner Ethiopian Tsegaye Kebebe, who posted a time of 2:06.30.
Mo Farah in his marathon debut took 8th place clocking a solid 2:08:2.
In the women's race, the world marathon rchampion of Kenya, Edna Kiplagat, won the race in season's best time of 2:20:21 and defeating another Kenyan Florence Kiplagat (2:20:24).
The all time Greatest women's distance runner on the track, Tirunsh Dibaba, of Ethiopia in her first marathon race impressed with the 3rd place and a brilliant time of 2:20:35.
