David Rudisha to Retire from Athletics?

Posted by:
According to Standard Digital the Olympic champion and world record holder in 800m David Rudisha has decided to walk away from athletics.

“I have done my part and won what I could. I now leave the stage for the other athletes, among them, my brother Francis, who is coming up very well,” Rudisha told FeverPitch.
David Rudisha has been suffering a knee injury since last March. He raced  last time on May 25th in 2013, at the Adidas Grand Prix in New York  which Rudisha took won  800m with a time of 1:45.14 and stoped his season later due to pain in his right knee.

Rudisha since then has been treating his injury and underwent a surgery last fall.

It is not clear how serious Rudisha is about his statement but his coach already Bro Colm O’Connell regretted Rudisha’s early retirement but he understood his athletes decision.

We really hope it's only a "premature April 1 fools day joke", but if not then track and field just lost one of its greatest icons of all time. Will post update on this issue soon...
