World Champions Set For Sydney Track Classic

The 2014 Sydney Track Classic organizers confirmed three world champion participation of Lawshan Merrit (USA), David Oliver (USA), Sally Pearson (AUS)and Enice Sum (KEN) on Saturday, March 15.

Lawshan Merrit the Moscow World outdoor champion will compete in the 400m race. The 27 year old American quarter miler star opened his season two weeks ago in Perth clocking 45.90 seconds.

Men's 110m hurdle event will see the defending World champion David Oliver. Oliver competed competed once this year indoors on February 15 at the Birmingham Indoor GP clocking 7.73 seconds in the 60m hurdles.

Eunice Sum (KEN), the 800m surprise winner at last year's World Championships will feature women's two-lap race. Sum will be challenged by Laura Crowe (IRL) PB 1:59.67, Zoe Buckman (AUS) PB 2:00.93, And tow New Zealanders Brittany McGowan PB 2:00.03 and Georgia Wassall PB 2:02.90.

Sydney Track classic will see World and Olympic champion Sally Pearson competing in 100m and 200m. Pearson will take on Australian 100m record holder Melisa Breen in both sprint events. On Sunday Pearson took silver in the 60m hurdles at the World Indoor championships in Sopot, Poland.

Mike Rodgers (USA) the Moscow World championships finalist in 100m will challenge Australia's finest sprinters.
