The 26 year old Florence Kiplagat of Kenya set a new World Half Marathon Record by running 1:05.12 at the eDreams Mitja Marató de Barcelona on Sunday (16).
The previous record of 1:05:50 belonged to Kiplagat's country woman Mary Keitany who set the record in February of 2011.
Down the road, Kiplagat split also a new World Best 20km time 1:01:56 lowering the old mark by 40 seconds.
"This is a not a day I will forget, I'm so happy," Kiplagat said on the IAAF website (www.iaaf.org).
"The circuit was very fast and I really want to thank my pace makers, Marc Roig and Stanley Siroro, they did a great job," she added.
"I felt so well from the beginning and the weather was perfect, so I had the feeling that this could be a special day."
Kiplagat's previous PR in the half marathon was she set in Ostia in 2012.
