Ukhov Soars 2.38m at Governors Cup

Reigning Olympic Champion in high jump, Ivan Ukhov, started the 2014 season with an impressive leap of 2.38m at the Governors Cup in Russia on Saturday (11).

The 27 year old opened the competition with an easy 2.15m jump clearing it with first attempt. He continued his impressive session clearing 2.24m, 2.30m and 2.35 meters also with first attempt.

The winning height of 2.38m the Russian cleared with the final attempt. The next height of 2.41m also came to third third attempt in which brushed the bar with his heel making it to shake for couple of seconds, but a moment later the bar  fell off from the stands.

"Ivan made almost excellent jump in the third attempt, but unfortunately he touched the bur with his heel." admitted Ukhovs coach Sergei Klugin talking about 2.41m third attempt

"The next competition for Ukhov will be in Chelabinsk then in Volgograd and on February 2nd he will compete at Russian Winter in Moscow." added Klugin.
