Kenyan-Born Europe's Fastest Marathoner Abraham Kiprotich Tests Positive

Kenyan - Born Europe's fafstest marathoner, Abraham Kiprotich, has tested positive for doping, announced French athletic Federation two days ago.

Kiprotich's sample taken at the Istanbul Internaional Marathon on November 17 showed ''footprints'' of erythropoietin (EPO).  In fact, the runner, who became a citizen of France won the Istanbul Marathon in a time of 2 hours 12min 28sec.

Kiprotich tops the Europen marathon lists with his winning time and PR of 2:08:33 at the at Daegu marathon. Interestingly, the athlete after the Daegu marathon was under suspension of 15 days following administrative failures relating to the medical surveillance of high-level athletes.

Now Kiprotich's B sample will undergo lab tests, and if there will be adverse findings the athlete could face 2 year ban. 

Kiprotich started his carrer as a steeplechaser with a  PR of 8:36:00 in 2008, but later switched to longer distances. He qualified for 2012 French Olympic marathon team, but failed to run the race in the biggest sporting even.
