Massive 5.93m Indoor Opener by Lavillenie

AULNAY SOUS BOIS - Olympic and World champion in pole vault, Renaud Lavillenie, showed fantastic form coming into the 2014 indoor season when he cleared a massive 5.93m at the French Perche Elite Tour on Saturday (21).

Last night the Frenchman took 5.65m in first, then 5.75m in second try, 5.83m and 5.93m with first attempt. The London Olympic champion then asked for 6.04 meters which he was not able to clear. 

 "He is in very goods shape."  said atheletes manager Rene Auguin.

Lavillenie is planning to compete nine times until March with the main goal to win  the Wolrd Indoor Championships in Sopot. His next competition is scheduled for January 11th where he will compete at the third stage of the French Perche Tour in Aubiere.

The women´s competition was won by  Sweden´s Angelica Bengtsson who managed a solid 4.49m ahead of France´s Marion Lotout 4.43m indoor PB and Portugal´s national record holder Maria Leonor Tavares 4.43m.
