Nesta Carter Runs 9.87 in Madrid

IAAF World Challenge Meeting  Madrid - Nesta Cater, a member of the Jamaican world record breaking 4x100m relay team at last year’s London Olympics, dominated the men's 100m  field by clocking 9.87 seconds. American sprinters Rakieem Salaam, who posted (10.07) and Calesio Newman (10.10) finished second and third respectively.

The 28 year old Jamaican set the second best mark this year in the world. Tyson Gay of the United States holds season's best mark in the event of 9.75 seconds that he achieved at the US Natioanls . World record holder Usain Bolt sits in the 6th position in the 2013 world 100m rank. 

Carter  failed to make the Jamaican team in the individual 100m race, will race on the 4x100m relay team at the World Championships in Moscow next month. 

American sprinters swept the women's 100m podium, as Barbara Pierre took a surprise win in 10.92.  Shalonda Solomon took third in 11.04 and Alexandria Anderson who finished 11.07 Jamaica’s Carrie Russell was fourth with 11.15.
