2007 Wolrd 100m and 200m champion Tyson Gay dealt with hip, groin and hamstring problems, meanwhile Usain Bolt was setting world records and picking up gold medals at any major championships.

Tyson Gay says he is finally injury-free and has "with no excuses" for not beating Usain Bolt. Two weeks ago at the USA championships Gay proved that his dark days are behind by setting world season-best times in the 100 and 200 metres.

Tyson Gays Moscow Wolrd Championships biggest rival Bolt has expressed his intent to extend his sprint domination until the Rio games.

Gays' response to that was: “I have to respect his goals. He is the best ever and is the world record holder. But I want to win every race I take part of and just lets see what I can do."

“At the end of the day I am one of those people hoping that every athlete is healthy. We all know Usain is going to be his best, and I am just hoping that I can run my best,” Gay added, with the most likely match up with the Jamaican sprint star being the World Championships in Moscow next month.

Tyson Gay is set to compete 100m next on Thursday, June 4  at the Lausanne Diamond League Meeting, where he will face former world record holder Asafa Powell.
