London Olympic Games finalist, Martin Wierig of Germany took a surprise win in the men's discus throw competition at the Ostrava Golden Spike meet beating London Gold and Silver medallists Robert Harting and Ehsan Hadadi.
In the competition on Wednesday afternoon, Wierigh with a throw of 67.46m in the fifth round defeated his country man Robert Harting, who took second place with a throw of 67.10m. London Olympics silver medallist Ehsan Hadadi took third landing the 2kg heavy discus at 66.98 meter mark.
"I can say it was amazing competition. It was a long way to beat Robert Harting. It is like a dream for me. I think it was my second best result, so I am very happy. Last week I had very good training. I knew I am in very good shape and I wanted to show it here." told Martin Wierig after the competition.
