Amsterdam Marathon Final Entry Lists Published

Defending champions Geofry Kipchumba and Aynalem Desta headline the elite fields for the 2026 TCS Amsterdam Marathon on Sunday, October 18. The World Athletics Platinum Label race starts at 9:00 a.m. local time, with the runners starting and finishing inside Amsterdam’s historic Olympic Stadium.

Kipchumba returns aiming to improve the men’s course record of 2:03:30 he set last year. The Kenyan reinforced his credentials with a runner-up finish in Tokyo earlier this season in 2:03:37. His rivals include Ethiopia’s Tsegaye Getachew, the Amsterdam winner in 2022 and 2024, who finished second last year in a personal best of 2:04:18.

Haymanot Alew brings a best of 2:03:31, making him another major contender, while Lemi Berhanu and Israel’s Maru Teferi add further depth. Uganda’s Stephen Kissa, a 2:04:48 performer, also features alongside Britain’s Marc Scott. Kenyan half-marathon specialist Isaia Lasoi will make his marathon debut after recording 58:10 over the shorter distance.

Desta leads the women’s entries with the 2:17:37 she ran to win last year’s race. Fellow Ethiopian Meseret Belete, the 2023 Amsterdam champion, returns with a best of 2:18:21. Mestawut Fikir, runner-up in Berlin in 2024 in 2:18:48, and Buze Diriba, who has run 2:19:34, complete a strong quartet of sub-2:20 entrants.

Other notable women include Bahrain’s Desi Mokonin, Eritrea’s Nazret Weldu and Sweden’s former world 1500m champion Abeba Aregawi, who ran 2:23:12 on her marathon debut in Ottawa this year. Yalemzerf Yehualaw’s course record of 2:16:52, set in 2024, provides the benchmark for the leading contenders. See the full entry lists below.
