Nikki Hiltz Wins Fourth Straight 1500m Title as Bailey and Butler Shine at USATF Championships

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Nikki Hiltz continued their dominance of American middle-distance running with a fourth consecutive U.S. outdoor 1500m title, while Chris Bailey and Aaliyah Butler claimed their first national outdoor 400m crowns on an action-packed third day of the 2026 Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships at Icahn Stadium in New York on Saturday (25). Noah Lyles also safely advanced to the men's 200m semifinals one day after winning the national 100m title.

Hiltz prevailed in one of the closest races of the championships, edging Sinclaire Johnson and Heather MacLean in a thrilling finish to stop the clock in 4:06.92. The victory extended Hiltz's remarkable reign in the event and delighted the largest crowd of the championships so far.

The men's 1500m title went to Nathan Green, who unleashed a powerful final kick to secure his first U.S. outdoor championship ahead of Vincent Ciattei and Hobbs Kessler.

In the one-lap finals, Aaliyah Butler broke the 50-second barrier for the first time at a national championships, clocking 49.93 to win the women's 400m ahead of Alexis Holmes and Sanaria Butler. Moments later, Chris Bailey captured the men's crown in 44.39, finishing comfortably ahead of Khaleb McRae and Jacory Patterson.

The women's 100m hurdles final produced another world-class performance as Alia Armstrong stormed to victory in a season's best 12.38, defeating Grace Stark and Tonea Marshall.

Saturday also featured the opening round of the men's and women's 200m. Olympic champion Noah Lyles looked relaxed in qualifying, winning his heat in 20.51 to move safely into Sunday's semifinals as he continues his bid for the sprint double after claiming the national 100m title on Friday.
