Nathan Martin Wins Thriller as Priscah Cherono Dominates at the 2026 Los Angeles Marathon

The 2026 ASICS Los Angeles Marathon delivered dramatic racing on Sunday, March 8, as Nathan Martin of the United States produced a stunning late surge to win the men’s race, while Priscah Cherono of Kenya captured the women’s title with a commanding solo performance on the famous “Stadium to the Stars” course.

Martin clocked 2:11:18 to claim victory after a thrilling duel with Michael Kimani Kamau of Kenya, who finished with the same time but was edged at the line after leading deep into the final kilometers. Kamau had controlled much of the race and appeared on course for the win before Martin closed the gap in the final stretch toward the finish in Century City. The two athletes sprinted side-by-side over the closing meters, with Martin prevailing in one of the closest finishes in the race’s history.

In the women’s race, Priscah Cherono delivered a powerful and controlled run to take the title in 2:25:20. The experienced Kenyan gradually distanced the field and ran alone through the latter stages of the marathon, crossing the finish line comfortably ahead of American Kellyn Taylor, who placed second.

The race began at Dodger Stadium and followed the traditional point-to-point route through Downtown Los Angeles, Hollywood, West Hollywood, and Beverly Hills before finishing in Century City. Despite warm conditions later in the morning, thousands of runners completed the 42.195-kilometer journey across the city.

The 41st edition of the Los Angeles Marathon once again showcased elite drama and mass participation, highlighted by Martin’s dramatic comeback victory and Cherono’s dominant run through the streets of Los Angeles.
