Femke Bol smashes Dutch 800m record with 1:59.07 debut win in Metz

Femke Bol delivered a sensational first outing over 800 metres, storming to victory in 1:59.07 at the Meeting Metz Moselle Athlélor Crédit Mutuel to break the Dutch indoor national record.
Racing the distance seriously for the first time indoors, Bol showed poise and strength throughout, splitting 27.00 at 200m, 57.8 at 400m, and 1:28.0 at 600m before powering away over the final lap. Her trademark long stride carried her clear down the home straight as she comfortably dipped under the two-minute barrier.
Dutch indoor national record for the women’s 800 m was held by Ester Goossens, who ran 2:00.01 indoors back in 2001.
Switzerland’s Valentina Rosamilia (1:59.90 PB) and Lore Hoffmann (1:59.91 PB) followed her home in a fast race that saw three women break two minutes, but the night belonged to Bol, whose front-running performance underlined her huge potential at two laps alongside her world-class hurdling credentials.
A debut, a win, and a national record — not bad for a first try.
