Étienne Daguinos Sets New European 10km Road Record in Lille

On a vibrant Saturday in Lille, France, 24-year-old Étienne Daguinos not only clinched the victory at the local 10km road race but also set a new European record with a remarkable time of 27 minutes and 4 seconds. This feat surpasses the previous record 0f 27:07 by three seconds, a record also set in Lille just eight months prior by his fellow countryman Jimmy Gressier.

Daguinos, who has been showing promising form in athletics, particularly demonstrated his growing dominance in long-distance running. Coming off a 15th place finish in the 5,000 meters at the European Championships in Rome this past June, he has visibly sharpened his pace and endurance. His new record marks a significant improvement of 45 seconds from his previous best in the 10km category, underscoring a momentous leap in his athletic career.

The race in Lille drew a competitive field, including top runners from Kenya. Meshack Lelgut and Charles Rotich, who are renowned figures on the international long-distance running scene, trailed behind Daguinos, illustrating the high level of performance that was showcased at the event.
