In her debut race, Kenya's Agnes Ngetich triumphed in the women's event at the 2024 Valencia Half Marathon, held on a rainy and humid Sunday, October 27, clocking the second fastest time ever in women's half marathon history with a time of 1:03:04.

The pace in the women's elite race was brisk from the start, with Ejgayehu Taye and Agnes Ngetich hitting the 5km mark in a world record pace of 14:39.

By the 10km point, Ngetich had edged out a slight lead over Taye, timing 29:18 to Taye’s 29:20, both running well under Letesenbet Gidey's world record pace of 1:02:52.

At the 15km marker, Ngetich registered a time of 44:15, widening her lead over Taye to 25 seconds and still on pace to set a new world record.

Despite a slight slowdown in the later stages of the race, Ngetich maintained her lead to finish with the second fastest time ever recorded for a women's half marathon, securing a victory in 1:03:04.
