In a thrilling mixed relay event at the European Cross Country Championships, France achieved their first gold medal in this category, completing the race in 19:44. They narrowly outpaced the Netherlands, who finished in 19:46, and Great Britain, who crossed the line in 19:48.

Beth Morley of Great Britain delivered a strong performance in the second leg, creating a significant lead for her team. Adam Fogg, a British 1500m specialist, maintained the lead during the third leg. In the meantime, France's Sarah Madeleine and Maureen Koster from the Netherlands were close behind in second and third places, respectively.

The final leg saw intense competition as France's Alexis Miellet and Bram Anderiessen from the Netherlands pursued Khahisa Mhlanga of Great Britain, an 800 metres specialist with a personal best of 1:59. Despite Great Britain holding the lead in the final lap, both France and the Netherlands made considerable efforts to close the gap.

In a dramatic finish, Miellet, a three-time French 1500 metres champion, caught up with Mhlanga on the final straight. He then unleashed a powerful kick, securing the gold medal for France. Anderiessen followed suit, overtaking Mhlanga to claim the silver medal for the Netherlands.
