World Athletics Championships Budapest: Sifan Hassan and Femke Bol Lead Strong Netherlands Team

Posted by: Watch Athletics

Sifan Hassan and Femke Bol, two exceptional athletes from the Netherlands, have been selected to represent their country in multiple disciplines at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest from 19 to 27 August. With their impressive track records, these athletes are expected to make a significant impact in their respective events.

Double Olympic champion Sifan Hassan will be competing in three disciplines at the Championships: the 1500m, 5000m, and 10,000m. This is the same trio of events that she contested at the Tokyo Olympic Games, where she achieved remarkable success. Hassan's exceptional performance in Tokyo earned her two gold medals and a bronze, solidifying her reputation as one of the most talented athletes in the world.

Bol, meanwhile, will have her sights set on gold in the 400m hurdles, having recently reduced her own European record to 51.45. As was the case at the past two global championships, she is also in the pools for the women’s and mixed 4x400m events. In addition to her individual event, Bol is also a key contender for the women's and mixed 4x400m relay races.
