Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, the Jamaican sprint super star, broke the meeting record at the Meeting de Madrid 2023 with an outstanding run on Saturday at the iconic Vallehermoso Stadium.
A confident Fraser-Pryce won the 100m in Madrid in 10.83 seconds, beating the previous meeting record of 10.92 seconds set by Barbara Pierre in 2013.
“I feel good. I’m happy to have had two solid races this week. Now I’m focusing on Budapest,” said the two-time Olympic 100m champion who ran her first 100m race this season in Luzern two days earlier.
Spainiard Jaël-Sakura Bestué took second place with a time of 11.10 seconds while Jamaica’s Shashalee Forbes took third, clocking 11.11.
