Lamecha Girma smashes 3000m steeplechase World Record

Ethiopia's Lamecha Girma, the Olympic games and world championships silver medalist set a new world record in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 7:52.11 at the meeting de  Paris meeting, the  fourth meeting of the 2023 Diamond League series. 

Girma lowered shaved 1.52 seconds from the previous world record of 7:53.63 held by Kenyan-born Qatari Saif Saaeed Shaheen since 2004.
