On Sunday, Ethiopian runners Milkesha Mengesha and Tadu Teshome won the Copenhagen Half Marathon 2022, a World Athletics Elite Label road race.
Despite dark clouds, cooler temperatures, and slight rain at the start, 15 men ran the half marathon in Copenhagen in under 60 minutes.
A total of 15 men ran the half marathon in Copenhagen in under 60 minutes. The 2019 World U20 cross country champion Milkesa Mengesha won the race in a new lifetime best of 59:00. He defeated the defending champion, his compatriot Amedework Walelegn, who came in 2nd just five seconds behind. Kenya's Felix Kipkoech rounded out the top three with a time of 59:07.
Ethiopia Tadesse Abraham finished in 14th place with a personal best time of 59.53 and became the first 40-year-old to run the half marathon in under one hour.
Ethiopian women swept the podium, with Tadu Teshome winning the race in 1:06:13. She finished more than half a minute ahead of her teammates Tsigie Gereselama (1:06:35) and Tiruye Mesfin ( 1:06:42).
Around 25.000 runnrs took the the streets of Copenhagen on Sunday.
