Strong Elite Fields Announced for 5th Avenue Mile

The New Balance 5th Avenue Mile, the world's most famous road mile race, will feature one of the strongest professional athlete fields in history. The event includes Olympic, World Championships, European Championships, and Commonwealth Games medalists. Some will seal out their seasons by competing at the New Balance 5th Avenue Mile on Sunday, September 11.
The men's field is led by reigning 1,500-meter world champion Jake Wightman from Great Britain. Wightman will face his compatriot Olympic 1,500-meter bronze medalist Josh Kerr, U.S. Olympian and three-time national champion Cole Hocker, and Great Britain's European Championships 1,500-meter silver medalist Jake Heyward.
Great Britain's Olympic silver medalist Laura Muir will end her outstanding season at the 5th Avenue Mile after claiming World Championships bronze, European Championships gold, and a Commonwealth Games gold and bronze this summer.
Muir will be challenged by defending New Balance 5th Avenue Mile champion Jemma Reekie of Great Britain, Ireland's three-time European Championships medalist and 2022 Commonwealth Games silver medalist Ciara Mageean, Olympic and World championships medalist in the 3000m steeplechase Emma Coburn, and 2022 USA 1,500-meter champion Sinclaire Johnson.
