Olympic 100m Champion Marcell Jacobs set for Outdoor Debut in Savona

Two-time Olympic gold medalist Marcell Jacobs will make his 2022 outdoor debut at the Meeting International Citta' Di Savona, a World Athletics Continental Tour Challenger meeting, on Wednesday, May 18. The 27-year-old Italian will run his first 100m since winning the Olympic gold last August.

In March, Jacobs won the 60m gold at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Belgrade, where he smashed the European record of 6.41 to defeat the reigning World champion, Christian Coleman.

Last year at the same Savona meeting, Jacobs started his rise to greatens, blasting to a new Italian 100m record of 9.95 and his first-ever sub-10 second clocking. Later in the Tokyo Olympics 100m final, he improved his record to 10.80 seconds.

In Savona Jacobs will face the best French sprinter Jimmy Vicaut who holds a personal best of 9.86 and Arthur Cisse' of Ivory Coast (PB 9.93).
