Kenyans Irene Cheptai and Nicholas Kipkorir Kimeli set new course records of 30:35 and 27:38 respectively at the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) World 10K Bengaluru 2022, a World Athletics Elite Label road race, on Sunday, 15 May.
In the women's race, the top three places were taken by Kenyan runners. The race winner Cheptai shaved 44 seconds off the late Agnes Tirop's 31:19 women’s course record. One of the most decorated runners of all time Hellen Obiri took second with 30:44 while Joyce Tele claimed third in 31:47.
Kipkorir Kimeli crossed the line first in the men's race in 27:38 with Ethiopia's Tadese Worku in second in 27:43. Kenya's Kibiwott Kandie came through for third in 27:57.
